Even though most things that you have around your home are
safe to compost some things that you might have thought were
easy and safe to compost might not be.

Items that can be Composted

According to the EPA, these items are all safe to compost:

• Animal manure
• Cardboard toilet paper and paper towel rolls
• Clean paper like old computer paper
• Coffee grounds and filters
• Cotton rags that are clean and don’t have chemicals on them
• Dryer lint and vacuum cleaner lint
• Eggshells – Eggshells are highly recommended as compost material.
• Fireplace ashes
• Fruits and vegetables
• Grass clippings
• Hair and fur
• Hay and straw
• Houseplants
• Leaves
• Nut shells
• Sawdust
• Shredded newspaper
• Tea bags
• Wood chips
• Wool rags
• Yard trimmings
